Fishing Trip

I think I have started this post 10 x's since Sunday and every time Cora comes over and plunks on the keyboard and sends it to drafts. *sigh* Last weekend was Andy's birthday and he wanted to spend the weekend doing family stuff so off to Lake Anna we went to go fishing. Our original plans were to go camping but mother nature was threatening us with severe weather so we ch aged them to just spend the day there. Can you imagine sitting in a tent with James (4) & Cora (11 mos) trying to entertain them while it's thundering and lightening out? Neither could I! LOL...

The alarm went off way to early for me, but I was being a good sport and got the kids moving and we were out the door by 7 am. If you know my family this was a feat in it's self. It was raining when we left but not to hard, and by the time we got there it had tappered off to almost nothing. James was the first to get his pole in the water. The problem was keeping it there. You would hear, "I got one" just so he could reel it and recast it out. while Andy was rigging up Rebecca's pole we heard those words again but this time when I looked he had reeled in his very first fish all by himself! By afternoon he had become a pro at casting too. not to shabby for a 4 yo.

He was so proud of himself. My little girly girl seen her brother was getting all the attention so when she caught a fish she had to hold the line too, but her fish flopped and she screamed and dropped the line and the fish flopped on the ground and then James proceeded to scream right along with her. It was to funny!

I had decided to go fishing on the docks so I set up my chair and cast out my pole and sat there admiring the scenery when I heard clapping and cheering. I turned around and seen a minister baptizing people in Lake Anna! I chuckled under my breath and then tried to catch it on film but I was quit a distance from them.

I will say we had a great time. It was relaxing for the most part and greatly needed. James ended up catching the most fish, go figure! I did catch the biggest a nice sized channel cat. About 5 pm the sun was going behind the clouds and the temp dropped so we packed up and headed home. James was fast asleep before we got out of the park(THANK YOU!) and the girls were not far behind him.

Since this was our first trip to Lake Anna we used the GPS to get home. On the way home the dang thing kept wanting to reroute us back north and running us in the same loop we just came from. GRRrrrr.... If anyone is familiar with the area I live off I95 south of Richmond and Ashland is North of Richmond. When I hit Richmond it wanted me to turn around and go back to Ashland. Andy said I confused it when I took a wrong turn once and it was getting even with us. Probably!
Well here are some more pictures of the day, ENJOY!
