When Rebecca( she's 11) was in Illinois this summer, her aunt bought her a loom and she learned how to make stocking caps. Today she raided my stash of yarn to make a infant cap. She did a really really good job and I am proud of her.
For those who don't know Rebecca she is a very generous soul, more so than her mother. Even as a small child she was always willing to give everything she had to someone else who may of needed it. Any time she saved money she would take it to school and donate it to the Christmas drive for families less fortunate. She has raided my cupboards numerous times for food drives. When it comes time for paying her tithe she will give the remaining money to a missionary fund or something like that.
For those not familiar with our church, we have programs that help to build the youth up and install values and self worth in them. Rebecca being 11 is part of the achievements girls. As part of this program she must do a service project before she advances to young woman's ( at age 12 ). She decided today she wants to make these little hats and donate them to the NICU or maternity ward of local hospitals.
I think it would be a great idea and I am very proud of her accomplishments. I told her I would contact someone ( probably Lisa *wink*) and see what the protocol is for this type of thing before she gets real gung-ho on it. I have attached a few pics and just wanted to share.
